Software Engineer (Junior)

Remote with one day per week in the office, occasional on-site work at customer locations, and occasional extended hours around launches and production issues.

About the role

CC Tech Digital builds and modernizes cloud and software systems for government agencies and mission-driven organizations. As a junior engineer you'll ship real features with guidance from senior engineers and grow across the full stack.

What you'll do

  • Build frontend and backend features with guidance from senior engineers
  • Write tests and fix bugs
  • Participate in code review
  • Help maintain build pipelines and documentation

Requirements

  • Around 3 years of professional software development experience
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and React
  • Understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, and relational databases
  • Comfortable with Git and a team-based workflow

Nice to have

  • React Native or mobile development exposure
  • Node.js backend experience
  • Any AWS or cloud deployment experience
  • SQL beyond basic queries
  • AWS certifications and other relevant technical certifications

Tech stack

You won't have used all of this. We care that you're strong in the core and can pick up the rest.

  • Languages: TypeScript, JavaScript
  • Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn / Base UI, Storybook
  • Mobile: React Native with Expo
  • Backend: Node.js, Express, REST APIs, OpenAPI
  • Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, ORMs (Drizzle, Prisma, or similar)
  • Messaging: RabbitMQ or similar queue systems
  • Cloud: AWS (ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, CloudWatch)
  • Infrastructure: Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions CI/CD
  • Testing: Jest, Playwright
  • Process: Git-based workflow, Jira, code review, automated testing
